The budget was certainly as expected to be rakyat centric.

MICCI’s stand has always been that dishing out goodies to rakyat helps keep them in the cash to tie over the tough period but it’s not sustainable in the long run.

What is needed is the sustaining of businesses and an environment conducive to a rejuvenation of the economy which will in turn keep the rakyat employed.

We don’t see any real incentives for businesses, specifically the SMEs who are the engine of economic recovery.

All very high level and vague. Execution might be a challenge and without a thriving economy, the government would not be able derive the revenues to provide for the rakyat incentives as announced.

MICCI has always said

“Don’t Strangle the Goose that lays the Eggs”

More is needed for the goose to thrive.
