On 12th September 2025, the MICCI Taxation & Budget Council was delighted to have Crowe Malaysia PLT as the host for its third meeting. The session was co-chaired by Mr. Raja Kumaran and Mr. Tai Lai Kok, with participation from committee members both in person and virtually. The meeting was coordinated by Mr. Wayne Shu Guo Qui together with the MICCI team.

The discussion focused on the new scope of the Service Tax expansion and updates from the Ministry of Finance (MOF) seminar on SST with Petroleum Production Sharing Contractors (PPSC), with strong participation from members. The agenda also covered stamp duty, where the council reaffirmed its commitment to continued engagement with the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia.

Further discussions included Capital Gains Tax and the Global Minimum Tax (GMT), providing valuable insights into current trends and practices. Updates were also shared on indirect tax matters concerning the Free Trade Zone, where companies operating within the zone are required to comply with the prevailing SST rate.

Looking ahead, the Councilโ€™s flagship event, the Post Budget Forum 2026, will be commencing soon. The Taxation & Budget Council looks forward to more engagements and eventsโ€”stay tuned!
