New MICCI Sabah Chairman Vows Stronger Collaboration with Government and Industry Stakeholders



The newly elected Chairman of the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) Sabah, Datuk Susan Chang, has pledged to strengthen collaboration with the government and relevant agencies to address the concerns of the business community and enhance Sabah’s economic ecosystem.
Speaking at the Executive Committee luncheon, which was attended by YB Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship (MIDE), and YBhg Datuk Thomas Logijin, Permanent Secretary of MIDE, Datuk Susan reaffirmed MICCI’s commitment to its advocacy role.
She stressed the importance of engaging closely with members to better understand their challenges and to foster partnerships that drive growth. “We will continue to provide timely economic insights, relevant business intelligence, and support initiatives that promote capacity building and market expansion,” she said.
Datuk Susan added that MICCI Sabah is committed to strengthening partnerships and economic ties with member countries of the emerging Borneo Economic Community (BEC), comprising nine territories with a collective population of 24 million. Concurrently, remain actively engaged in the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA), with a focus on empowering SMEs by facilitating seamless cross-border trade and driving regional market expansion.
On a separate note, she announced that the 11th Sabah International Expo (SIE) will be held from 3rd to 6th September 2026. The Expo, a State Government-sanctioned event, will continue to serve as a key platform for trade and investment in the region. She also appealed for the continued support of the State Government, particularly from the Ministry of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship (MIDE), to ensure the success of the event.
