The Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) Southern Region, in collaboration with Standard Chartered Bank and AME Elite Consortium Berhad, successfully hosted the Business Mission and Forum on the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ): “Unlocking Growth Beyond Borders” on 24 September 2025.
The event brought together industry leaders, investors, and policymakers from both Malaysia and Singapore to explore the immense opportunities of the JS-SEZ — a key catalyst for cross-border investment, innovation, and sustainable growth.
The day began with a Business Mission to key sites including the Invest Malaysia Facilitation Centre, Cape EMS Berhad, and AME Industrial Park in Senai, where delegates from Singapore gained valuable insights into Johor’s dynamic industrial ecosystem.
The Business Forum segment began with opening remarks by Ms. Xia Wen, Global Head of SME Banking, Standard Chartered Bank, and a welcome address by Ms. Christina Tee, President of MICCI. The session “Driving Growth Through JS-SEZ – A Government Perspective” featured speakers from MIDA Johor, Enterprise Singapore, and TalentCorp Malaysia, who shared forward-looking perspectives on driving growth, enhancing talent mobility, and strengthening the Johor–Singapore economic corridor.
Further sessions such as “JS-SEZ 360°: Legal, Financial and Development Perspectives” and “The Johor Investment Journey” provided in-depth discussions on tax incentives, legal frameworks, infrastructure development, and real-life business experiences in Johor.
MICCI was honoured by the presence of Mr. Rayner Gan, Deputy Consul-General of the Republic of Singapore in Johor Bahru. The event concluded with a networking dinner, fostering meaningful connections and opportunities for collaboration.
