Philippines-Malaysia Business Networking Session

On 23 October 2025 at Hilton Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) was honoured to co-host for the Philippines–Malaysia Business Networking Session in collaboration with the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), alongside delegates from TIEZA (Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority) and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The session opened with welcoming remarks by Mr. Kelvin Kee, General Committee Member of MICCI, who reaffirmed Malaysia’s strong bilateral ties with the Philippines and highlighted MICCI’s dedication to connecting Malaysian industries with emerging high-growth ASEAN markets, with Mindanao recognised as a rising destination for trade and investment.

Secretary Leo Tereso A. Magno, Chairperson of MinDA, presented Mindanao’s transformation from a conflict-affected region into a dynamic economic hub within the BIMP-EAGA framework, supported by strengthened stability and growing investor confidence.

The Honourable Minister Farserina Mohammad, Minister of Trade, Investment and Tourism for BARMM, graced the session and shared BARMM’s direction toward inclusive economic development, supported by opportunities in halal-certified ventures, cross-border logistics, fisheries, and maritime connectivity through key gateways such as Tawi-Tawi.

MICCI extends appreciation to MinDA for hosting this business networking platform, which enabled MICCI members and Malaysian stakeholders to explore potential collaborations with Mindanao and BARMM, further reinforcing MICCI’s role as a gateway for fostering bilateral engagement.

MICCI remains dedicated to supporting Malaysian businesses in exploring emerging opportunities in Mindanao and BARMM, while contributing to deeper ASEAN economic integration.
