MICCI Hosts Strategic Engagement with the Saudi Commercial Attaché, Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Malaysia

On 9 December 2025, the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) was pleased to welcome a courtesy visit from the Saudi Commercial Attaché, Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Malaysia. The engagement served as a valuable platform to strengthen bilateral economic ties and explore new areas of collaboration for Malaysian companies seeking opportunities in high growth international markets.

The meeting was chaired by Dato’ Azman Shah, Vice President of MICCI. Representing MICCI were Mr. Kelvin Kee, General Committee Member; Mr. Lee Han Ling, Executive Director; Mr. Leslie Tan, Deputy General Manager; and Ms. Fatin Lyana, Assistant Manager, Advocacy. The delegation from the Saudi Commercial Attaché’s office was led by Mr. Mubsher Alshehri, Commercial Consul, accompanied by Mr. Ahmed Al Obaidallah, Senior Commercial Specialist.

During the session, Mr. Mubsher shared an overview of the Saudi Arabia’s evolving economic landscape and highlighted priority sectors for collaboration, including machinery and equipment, semiconductors, aerospace, maritime industries, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, food processing and chemicals. They also outlined a competitive suite of investment incentives such as long term project financing, Special Economic Zone benefits, export facilitation mechanisms and human capital development programmes.

A key highlight of the meeting was Saudi Arabia’s initiative to position as a strategic gateway for ASEAN products, supported by its growing logistics connectivity and access to key Middle Eastern, African and European markets. Discussions also explored opportunities within the halal ecosystem, SME export readiness, Arabic labelling and customs facilitation, and potential partnerships in palm oil downstream activities within Saudi free zones. Both sides expressed interest in strengthening business delegation exchanges, sector specific matching sessions and co-hosting a joint webinar to present investment opportunities to industry players.

MICCI extends its appreciation to the Saudi Commercial Attaché for the productive engagement and looks forward to advancing this collaboration through a structured roadmap. Members interested in exploring opportunities in the Saudi Arabia, stay tuned for upcoming engagement programmes.
