BUSINESS LUNCHEON WITH CONSUL GENERALS
MICCI Penang hosted a special luncheon at G Hotel Gurney to welcome newly appointed Consul Generals in Penang, including representatives from Thailand and Japan. Also in attendance were Mr. Przemyslaw Zaręba, Chief of the Polish Foreign Trade Office, and Mr. Maciej Tumulec, Charge d’Affaires of the Polish Embassy.
Mr. Zaręba shared that their agency, under Poland’s Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology, is working to boost trade ties with Malaysia. A new Foreign Trade Office was recently set up in Kuala Lumpur and is scheduled for official opening in late November 2018 by Poland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
HE Shinichiro Kanoya, Japan’s Consul General, delighted guests by revealing he shared a birthday with Malaysia’s Merdeka Day and was surprised with a birthday cake from G Hotel. Acting Thai Consul General Mr. Sukoom also spoke about his role and responsibilities in Penang, noting the strong bilateral traffic with Thailand.
Mr. Michel Van Crombrugge, MICCI Northern Chapter Chairman, welcomed guests and introduced MICCI’s history, purpose, and member activities in the region.
The luncheon concluded with mutual appreciation and a commitment to continued collaboration between MICCI and the diplomatic community.
