[POWIIS School Snap] POWIIS Launches “The POWIIS Project” An Initiative Curated For Their Students.

Our member The Prince of Wales Island International School (POWIIS) recently launched an initiative, specially curated for their students, called The POWIIS Project.

As a vibrant, internationally-minded community, POWIIS constantly strives to contribute to a more sustainable and peaceful world. Through this initiative, the students have the opportunity to work towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), or the to-do list, which directly impacts the community! They refer to The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all”.

Students undertake service and global citizenship education where they can choose to work on 30 projects linked to the SDGs. These range from managing and setting up a community farm, to creating a precious plastic recycling site as well as working with the habitat foundation on tree planting.
