Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI), Northern Branch received a courtesy call from the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Malaysia represented by Ambassador, H.E Mr Irfan Davudov, on 4 March 2024. His Excellency was accompanied by Dr. Elsevar Salmanov, Counselor-Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Malaysia and Dato ’Seri Suppiah Manikam, Honorary Consul for the Republic of Poland.

MICCI Northern Branch was represented by Treasurer, Mr. Lim Huck Khiam of PWC Penang. Other Branch Committee Members present were Mr Michel Van Crombrugge, Mr LT Chia, Dr Mary Ann Harris, Mr Jery Yeoh, Dr Teoh Poh Huat, Ms Hemalatha Murugiah, Mr Ben Ho and Ms Ahila Ganesan. The Branch Manager, Ms Priscilla Dawson and Branch Assistant Manager Ms Jamie Chan were in attendance to meet and greet the delegates and assist in introducing MICCI activities in the Northern region.

The courtesy call was a great opportunity for us to express and to share interest in further strengthening the bilateral relationship between Northern and Azerbaijan by exploring business opportunities in various areas and to forge lasting partnerships.

The topics of the engagement session covered:

· unveiling the investment opportunities in Azerbaijan

· discussing the development of economic (trade) relations

· ⁠investment opportunities in the liberated areas of Azerbaijan

· ⁠important role of Azerbaijan in the international middle corridor

· ⁠export/import opportunities

· organizing mutual visits

· as the initial step to discuss the organization of video meeting with relevant authorities of the Republic of Azerbaijan

It is hoped that this visit signifies the beginning of a fruitful collaboration and engagement between The Republic of Azerbaijan and MICCI Northern.
