The Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) was delighted to welcome an official delegation from the Zhambyl Region, Republic of Kazakhstan, for a courtesy visit on 15th October 2025. The visit marked another step in strengthening economic relations between Malaysia and Kazakhstan while exploring new areas of collaboration in trade, investment, agriculture, and the halal industry.
The delegates were welcomed by Mr. Callum Chen, Vice President of MICCI, together with Mr. Martin Ang, General Committee Member; Mr. Lee Han Ling, Executive Director; and Mr. Leslie Tan, Deputy General Manager.
The delegation was represented by Mr. Abulkhair Tamabek, Deputy Governor of the Zhambyl Region, accompanied by Mr. Amir Aldazhanov, First Secretary, Head of the Economic Division, Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Malaysia, together with distinguished officials from the Zhambyl Region.
The meeting featured insightful discussions on fostering stronger business linkages between Malaysia and Kazakhstan. Key areas of interest included technology partnerships, halal certification and export facilitation, and agricultural cooperation. Both sides also explored opportunities arising from enhanced connectivity between ASEAN, China, and Central Asia, particularly through emerging rail and trade routes that could boost logistics efficiency and reduce costs.
MICCI and the Zhambyl Region expressed mutual interest in formalising collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote sustained engagement and business-to-business opportunities. MICCI looks forward to strengthening this partnership and exploring future initiatives that will foster deeper business linkages, innovation, and investment between Malaysia and Kazakhstan.
