It’s not what happened. It’s what you say about it.

Dear WhyteHouse Parents,

In childhood, small incidents happen every day.

A disagreement.
A disappointment.
A moment of feeling left out.

While these experiences may seem minor, the way they are interpreted can quietly shape how children understand themselves and the world around them.

This month’s infographic introduces the psychological concept of explanatory style, ie., the patterns of meaning children internalise through repeated conversations with adults. Drawing from research in attribution theory and developmental psychology, it explores how everyday explanations influence mindset, resilience, and emotional responses over time.

Our hope is simply to invite *reflection.*

Before we move into practical strategies in the coming month, we begin with understanding. Because we believe awareness of our interpretive habits is often the first step toward shaping them intentionally.

We look forward to continuing this conversation with you.
