: Feb 27, 2024Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (MICCI)’s Heartfelt Congratulations to Northport (Malaysia) Bhd, a part of MMC Group, achieved a remarkable milestone in 2023 by handling a record-breaking 11,405,312 FWTs of conventional cargo – a 2.6% increase from 2022. Despite global challenges and tough economic conditions, Northport’s success was fueled by a significant growth of 9.5% in break bulk commodities and notable strides in the RoRo segment, particularly in handling Electric Vehicles. This outstanding achievement was announced by Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, CEO of Northport, during the New Year 2024 countdown event.
Facing challenges head-on! Northport overcame obstacles such as the slow economic recovery and global trade uncertainty. The company also navigated additional hurdles during the rainy season, making this record-breaking accomplishment even more remarkable. Through it all, Northport demonstrated resilience, achieving the highest-ever monthly conventional throughput in October, clocking 1,129,145 FWTs. This success was celebrated alongside the 60th anniversary of port operations at the North Port terminal on December 27, 2023.
