Engagement Session With The Chief Executive Officer Of LHDN And Related Parties (Chambers of Commerce & Trade Associations)

On 30th January 2023, The Inland Revenue Board Of Malaysia (LHDN) hosted an engagement session with the YBhg. Datuk Dr. Mohd Nizom bin Sairi, Chief Executive Officer of LHDN and related parties from Chambers of Commerce & Trade Associations at Inter Continental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
The key highlights of YBhg. Datuk Dr. Mohd Nizom Bin Sairi’s speech at the session, as below:
1. LHDN Revenue for 2022 surpassed 2021 tax revenue of RM 149 billion. The formal results will be announced by the Ministry of Finance.
2. One of the best performances in the region.
3. Positive economic indicator.
4. New strategy plays an important role in helping & facilitating taxpayers in tax administration. Changing from an enforcement role to a more facilitation role.
5. LHDN working with businesses and taxpayers as partners and promoting tax compliances by all.
6. The CEO LHDN advises businesses to pay more attention to Tax Estimates, to avoid overpayment and help the Government in planning of resources. LHDN is trying to avoid refunds which have cost the Agency more than RM100 million in interest payment of 2% due to late or delayed refunds.
7. LHDN has an open door policy to all Chambers of Commerce and Associations to continue having dialogue for its members.
8. LHDN welcomes mutual discussion and agreement with regard to Tax Audit and Discrepancy on Tax instead of taking to courts.
