On 2nd February 2023, the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) paid a courtesy call to the Deputy Minister of Finance, YB Steven Sim. 

The gist of the meeting as below:

1. For the Budget 2023, most of the good announcements will likely be kept and some will be reviewed. 
2. If accepted, our suggestions and recommendations will only likely be in the budget 2024.
3. We submitted the issues and recommendations pack successfully. 
4. We reiterated about the lost revenue due to illicit and smuggled products. We also stated the need to reactivate the MATF.
5. As to the digital economy, sufficient time should be given for the industry to prepare their systems to align with Custom’s process.
6. We called for buy Malaysia policy. 
7. MCMTC requested that DDI, in particular SMEs be given more attention such as several of the government grants like the SJPP should be extended in their scope. 
8. The Deputy Minister requested for specific sectors to submit their issues. 
9. We also called for more transparency in government procurement process
