MICCI Hosts Courtesy Visit by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur

MICCI hosted a courtesy visit from the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur on 15 December 2025. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Christina Tee, President of MICCI, and was also attended by Mr. Lee Han Ling, Executive Director; Mr. Leslie Tan, Deputy General Manager; Ms. Harpreet Kaur, MICCI member and Ms. Fatin Lyana, Assistant Manager Advocacy. The visiting delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuala Lumpur was led by Mr. Ahmed Ghanim Abdul Jabbar, Chargé d’Affaires, accompanied by Mrs. Doaa Jumaah Neamah, Second Secretary. The visit provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange perspectives and explore potential areas for closer business and trade collaboration between Malaysia and Iraq.

During the meeting, Ms. Christina Tee shared MICCI’s role in supporting businesses through trade facilitation, market access, and international engagement, emphasising MICCI’s commitment to providing a business driven platform for companies seeking to expand into new markets. Mr. Ahmed shared insights into Iraq’s business environment, highlighting the growing participation of international companies and the availability of opportunities across key sectors including manufacturing, logistics, infrastructure, agriculture, energy, and services.

Discussions also focused on the proposed Memorandum of Understanding between MICCI and the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, which was viewed as a practical framework to support information exchange, business matching, trade promotion activities, and future business engagements.

The visit concluded on a positive note, and MICCI looks forward to creating meaningful opportunities for businesses on both sides.
